The goal was simple, to find an all in one solution that would help job seekers apply. 

We sat down with our engineers to discuss the seed of this vision and to find out more about the journey towards building the product, Light Auto Apply.

Lightforth is transforming the recruitment process and streamlining job search.

The front-end developer, Anifowose Gbolahan, says that the product took about two months to develop. 

Int: What are your favorite features on Light Resume and Light Auto-Apply?

-My favourite feature on the resume is the real time editing on the canvas

-My advice would be to be flexible in terms of method of feature execution

According to Dunsin Faith, the team had to work on tight deadlines, balancing feature implementation and bug fixes. Collaboration and communication were key as we constantly adapted to feedback and evolving requirements.

Int: What are your favorite features on Light Resume and Light Auto-Apply?

For Light Resume, my favorite feature is the live editing capability, which allows users to see changes in real-time. For Light Auto-Apply, it has to be the job-matching algorithm, which intelligently recommends and applies to jobs based on user preferences.

Int: How does it work? 

Light Resume: Users can create resumes with live updates and get ATS (Applicant Tracking System) optimization. The AI provides real-time recommendations, feedback, and tips to improve resumes, ensuring a higher ATS score. Completed resumes can be exported in multiple formats like PDF, Word, and plain text.

Light Auto-Apply: The platform uses AI to match users with job postings that suit their skills and preferences. It customizes applications with tailored cover letters and resumes, leveraging AI to save users time and maximize their chances of success.

Int: What was the most challenging part of building these tools?

The most challenging part was balancing speed and quality. We needed to deliver quickly without compromising on the user experience. Coordinating between teams to address blockers and last-minute changes was demanding but also fulfilling.

It was both exciting and complex. Working remotely required clear communication channels and regular check-ins. I ensured we had structured standups and retrospectives while incorporating fun and more casual discussions and friendly banters to keep the team engaged and reduce stress during intense sprints.

Int: What’s one piece of advice you’ll give yourself if you could go back to the beginning of this project?

Stay flexible and trust your team. Challenges will arise, but collaboration and perseverance will get you through." Also, celebrate small wins—they go a long way in keeping morale high.

Int: What is your hope for this amazing product with you have built?

I hope it becomes a vital tool for job seekers globally, helping them create standout resumes and apply to jobs effortlessly, ultimately transforming the way people approach their career goals.
